In recent years, Veletabak has begun examining this multi-layered footprint through greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions data. The goal was not merely to determine the volume of emissions generated, but to understand where those emissions are actually generated and what that reveals about the way our system functions.
That process encompasses all relevant emission sources, while the reporting boundaries have been defined to accurately reflect the company’s operational structure. The year 2023 was selected as the baseline – not as a reference point of success or failure, but as the starting point of a system that is just beginning to be observed through this type of data.
The methodology is aligned with the ISO 14064:2019 international standard and has been verified through certification, which enables data to be monitored consistently from year to year.
The true value of this approach does not lie in the standards themselves. It lies in what the data begins to reveal.
When emissions are linked to operations, it becomes easier to understand how energy is consumed, where logistics flows become more concentrated, and where resources are used more intensively than it appears at first glance. More importantly, a broader perspective begins to emerge: environmental impact is shaped not only by direct operations, but also by the way the supply chain is structured.
Within this broader context lie decisions that are not immediately visible in day-to-day operations – how capabilities aredeveloped, how investments are planned, and how the future structure of the system is shaped. Together, these decisions become part of the same footprint.
For this reason, emissions measurement is no longer viewed as a technical task. It becomes a way of understanding how a complex system functions and where previously invisible pressure points emerge within it.
At Veletabak, this process does not end with data collection. It creates the space for making different future decisions – decisions based on an understanding of the entire system rather than its individual components. In this sense, our green footprint is not a predefined outcome. It is something that is still being formed over time and through the way the business gradually transforms from within – and only then does it become visible.
